Reference of great/best side scrolling fighting games

Golden Axe
Pluses: Mounts, Super Simple Magic System, Interesting Environments, Thieves sequences, multiple paths to same ending
negatives: character animation always felt sorta slow

Double Dragon
Pluses: You can pick up and throw weapons
negatives: bad AI, repetitive enemies

Battle Toads
Pluses: crazy super moves, riding bikes, swinging down holes with ropes
negatives: super difficult at times (specially the bikes and ropes), too easy enemies on land

Pluses: good bosses, interspersed neat stuff to do ( manholes ) + other enviromental hazards / destructibles
negatives: too button mashy at times

King of Dragons / D&D Shadow over Mystarra / D&D Tower of Doom
Pluses: Inventory System, complex magic system
negatives: too many buttons to press at times to switch spells / inventory

Castle Crashers
Pluses: crazy boss battles, you get new skills as you level
negatives: your character gets lost in the view at times

Soccer Zombie

I like the scale of this one. It has the negative aspect that the enemies tend to clump into a single space and that the hero does not move. But the size of things are really nice. It makes you feel like you are one against many. This is a feeling i like, specially because our enemies are viruses, bacteria, and the like.

pros: being able to morph into cool beasts. Some shapes could fly or shoot things.
cons: wimpy start human shape looked wimpy and kicked like a girl.
